Knox Child Development Center first opened in August of 1993 under the name of Knox Day Care. Through the years the daycare has evolved into the Child Development Center that it is today. We serve infants 6 weeks old up to children 12 years old. Children 6 weeks old to pre-kindergarten are cared for 52 weeks of the year. We provide care over winter, spring and summer break for school age children who have completed kindergarten through the age of 12. We’re licensed through the State of Kansas with a capacity for 131 children.

Our Center is led by a Board of Directors that consists of church members, parent representatives, the Center Director and Center Treasurer. We are a non-profit center and are guided by our Mission Statement, Center By-laws and state regulations.
We are a Christian based Child Development Center. We provide weekly basic Bible lessons for all of our children that include a story along with art, music and games. Each month we have Children’s Time and visit the Church Sanctuary where we are led in worship by the church’s Director of Children’s Ministry. We also participate in Vacation Bible School each summer.
Our curriculum is based on a new learning theme each week/month. We have developmentally appropriate lesson plans that include basic skills, letters, numbers, shapes, colors, science, music, nutrition and for the 4’s and 5’s: kindergarten readiness skills. Each room has an established schedule that provides the children with a secure routine, ease of transition and continuity. Each child’s schedule allows for two outdoor play times, circle activities, music time, story time, meals and naps. We feel that it is important that a child has a consistent daily routine.
In our infant room, instead of lesson plans, we provide individual care plans. These plans are based on developmentally appropriate activities, personal feeding and sleep schedules. We ask each parent to provide us with a schedule of sleep and feeding that their infant is currently accustomed to and we will assimilate that into our daily care plans for the infant unit.
All children enjoy light, bright rooms with delightful artwork and are grouped by ages for appropriate lessons. Nutrition is provided by a morning and afternoon snack that’s served from our kitchen as well as a hot lunch.
Knox Child Development Center is located in Overland Park, KS and serves Johnson County as well as surrounding areas. We’re a non-profit organization.
